Post-jam thoughts

So the voting for Godot Wild Jam #53 (the jam this game was made for) had just concluded and the results for Card Chef are:

So my thoughts on every ranking are:

Controls and accessibility: Maybe, for a chill and relaxing game like this, a high Controls criteria rank is good, but anyways, seems kinda strange to me. I guess the success formula for making a game more or less accessible and a game with good controls are making a game that you can play with only one mouse button. 🙂

Overall: The overall rank was kinda higher than I expected, so thanks to everyone, who voted for the game, the amount of support is huge!

Theme: Actually, the idea for the game came to me earlier than I decided to participate in the jam, the jam is just a very good motivation for me to complete the game. The idea was inspired by Papa's series and TMNT trading cards (still have them somewhere).

Audio: That was something I was making a big bet on, apart from easy and relaxing play, because I think that sound design is one of the most important things when you try to achieve a good UX. The sound design was noted a lot by people, who rated and playtested the game, and I'm glad about that.

Originality: Well, I guess I could say, that everything was invented before us. 🙂 All are getting inspired by something, after all.

Fun: That's the thing, that requires some work, and I have some gameplay ideas for future patches.

Graphics: I agree, that it could be better. The person, who drew all characters suggested help kinda randomly and it was the first time she opened Asperite, so I think that it was good for a first pixel art experience. Fun fact: the customers are all our friends.

Again, thanks to everyone, who rated the game during the jam, and stay tuned for more news!
